It is time to talk geek language. There’s nothing short of funky and stylish when it comes to these five bookcases. Be astounded by bookcases which change shape and decorate and save space. These designer bookcases will please your inner geek. But probably the most important thing about them is their unconventional appeal. Bookworms will especially like the creativity that it took to design these one-of-a-kind pieces of home furniture such as the Wisdom Tree and the snake-like bookcase.

Artistic Bookcase
Artistic book shelving is not easy to find, particularly when you desperately plan to save some space, stash small ornaments, and have a piece of furniture that looks like artwork. Luckily, the Tree Bookshelf by Shawn Soh solves all these problems. It works on all levels and is made from wood to appear as though it’s a real tree. Books and small decorative pieces come from trees and returns to their roots to serve as a leaf or perhaps a bloom on the shelf. Shawn Soh

Ultra Modern Bookcase
We can so envision the Pietro Travaglini’s Schiena Bookcase in an ultra modern living room. This designer piece looks much like human spine, making it a modern decorative piece. We especially like its flexibility due to its innovative design, which enables it maximum convenience for stashing books and smaller decorative pieces. Pietro Travaglini

Fun Bookcase
The Jordi Mila’s Wisdom Tree is a perfect name for this fun bookcase. The shelves will fit not just your favorite reading, but other cool stuff as well. We especially like its hot red colour. The smaller supports are covered in a similar colour of leather, adding a second texture. It’s meant for those who see books as not only a source of wisdom, but also as a source of love. Jordi Mila

Wall Leaning Bookcase
This quite unusual bookcase leans against your living room wall with spaces in each step meant for your favorite reading. With its serpent-like shape it can be leaned even against your chair or a table. It was designed with the creator god Quetzalcoatl (he’s better known as the Feathered Serpent) and Aztec sky in mind. A famous feature of pre Hispanic architecture – the descent of the serpent slithering down the steps of a staircase. It can be found with shorter lengths of the bookcase that are horizontal and freestanding. The designers, Cecilia León de la Barra + Ricardo Casas, Emiliano Godoy + Héctor Esrawe actually belong to NEL, a collective of experimental designers from Mexico. NEL

Modular Bookcase
Intelligently, the Andrius Poscius’s Bookspile is composed of elements which look much like books. This furniture piece was created to resemble an oddly stacked pile of books. It features elements in a couple of widths and 3 heights. That way, this designer open bookcase can be easily put together in a lot of different configurations. What’s more, it’s freestanding and there is no need for permanent fixings. Andrius Poscius
